TikTok Ads Asset Unavailable or Authorization Revoked Fix

Fix asset unavailable or authorization revoked TikTok ads by finding the blocked asset, routing it to the right owner, and restoring delivery safely.

TikTok Ads Asset Unavailable or Authorization Revoked Fix

When you see asset unavailable or authorization revoked TikTok ads, do not delete the ad or raise its bid. Open the Campaign, Ad group, and Ad views; read the exact secondary status; identify the shop, post, Identity, pixel, or catalog involved; then route the repair to that asset's owner. Recheck access in the original account, restore or replace only the blocked dependency, and confirm the status clears before making delivery changes. A media buyer can verify the setup, but a creator, shop owner, or Business Center admin may be the only person able to restore permission.

What do these TikTok ad errors mean?

TikTok's current Ads Manager status definitions distinguish several related blockers. Asset unavailable means an asset used by the ad is unavailable. Post authorization revoked specifically means the creator revoked permission to use their video; TikTok's stated remedy is to select another video. Identity unavailable means the selected Identity no longer exists or is no longer authorized.

For asset unavailable or authorization revoked TikTok ads, the owner depends on the asset. A creator controls post authorization, a seller controls shop permission, and a Business Center admin controls asset assignment. Logging back in cannot recreate revoked permission.

If the ad has no named asset or authorization blocker and is simply Active with low spend, switch to the TikTok ads not spending guide. This page is only for explicit asset and authorization stops.

Run this five-minute diagnosis before editing anything

Start at the affected level. A Campaign can contain a blocked Ad.

  1. Open Campaign, Ad group, and Ad views and record the exact status text.
  2. Record the advertiser account ID, affected ad ID, first failure time, and last known successful delivery time.
  3. Identify the dependency named in the ad: shop, post, Identity, pixel, catalog, product, or another assigned asset.
  4. Check whether the same asset is visible to the same TikTok login and advertiser account outside the affected ad.
  5. Ask what changed: creator permission, Shop connection, Business Center membership, asset assignment, post availability, or product/catalog status.
  6. Route the case to the owner in the matrix below. Preserve the original ad until you know whether permission can be restored.

Fix the error by asset type

Post authorization revoked or a Spark post is unavailable

First confirm the post ID and creator. If TikTok explicitly says Post authorization revoked, the creator owns the missing permission. Ask the creator whether the post was deleted, authorization was turned off, or its authorization window ended. If they will not restore permission, select another eligible video rather than repeatedly editing the blocked ad.

For a post-specific Spark Ads code, obtain a new valid code from the rights holder and apply it to the correct advertiser account. AdRate can apply a supplied code to connected ad accounts and show authorized posts by account. It cannot generate a creator's code, extend its term, or override a revocation. For prevention, see the multi-account Spark Ads authorization SOP.

Shop permission or affiliate-video authorization changed

A shop problem belongs to the seller side, not the buyer's browser session. Confirm the selected shop, seller-ad-account relationship, product status, and whether the affected affiliate video still has permission for Shop Ads.

TikTok's current affiliate-video authorization guide says creators can enable seller use of affiliate videos in Shop Ads from TikTok Shop Creator Center, under Settings and Privacy settings, and can turn that permission off. That makes the creator the owner of affiliate-video permission, while the seller or shop owner controls shop access and product availability. The seller-side affiliate ads workflow covers the broader authorization and scaling model.

Identity unavailable

Confirm which Identity the ad selected and whether that account or authorized identity still exists and is available to the advertiser. Use the same TikTok login that originally had access. If an account owner disconnected or removed authorization, that owner must reconnect or reauthorize it; the buyer cannot repair ownership with a campaign edit.

Pixel, catalog, or another Business Center asset is unavailable

Ask a Business Center admin to verify four links: the member is active, the advertiser account is assigned, the required asset still belongs to or is shared with the correct Business Center, and the advertiser has access to that asset. Match by IDs, not similar display names.

Restoring member access does not prove the pixel or catalog is assigned. An assigned asset is also useless when the operator uses the wrong TikTok identity.

What should you avoid?

  • Do not delete the only affected ad before capturing its IDs and error details.
  • Do not duplicate an ad that still points to the same unavailable asset.
  • Do not raise budget or bid to solve a permission stop.
  • Do not remove and re-add Business Center members blindly; map the missing asset first.
  • Do not request authorization codes in public tickets or screenshots.
  • Do not assume an AdRate team role equals TikTok Business Center asset permission.

When should you open a TikTok Support ticket?

Open a ticket after the owner restores access but Ads Manager still shows the blocker. Include advertiser account ID, Campaign/Ad group/Ad IDs, asset or post ID, exact status wording, timestamps, screenshots, and completed steps. Never include passwords, access tokens, or a full authorization code.

Keep the incident narrow. Exact IDs and status wording are more useful than "ads do not work."

FAQ

Can reconnecting TikTok fix Asset unavailable?

Only when the missing link is your own expired or disconnected account authorization. It will not restore a creator's revoked post permission, a seller's shop permission, or a Business Center assignment controlled by an admin.

Should I replace the video immediately?

If TikTok reports Post authorization revoked and the creator will not restore it, use another eligible video. If the issue is a Business Center asset assignment an admin can restore, preserve the ad and fix the dependency first.

Can AdRate restore revoked TikTok permissions?

No. AdRate can show connected advertiser accounts, help a BC admin inspect member-to-account permissions, apply a valid owner-supplied Spark Ads code, and show authorized Spark posts by account. The fix for asset unavailable or authorization revoked TikTok ads still depends on the TikTok-side owner. After access returns, monitor status before diagnosing budget or bidding.
